Advanced Placement Immunohematology

I. Introduction
The Advanced Standing Program is designed to allow a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or CLT)
to receive credit for previous educational experience and to earn a
baccalaureate degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
II. Eligibility
The program is available to all students who meet the
following requirements:
1) Associate degree in Medical
Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning;
2) Current Certification as an MLT(ASCP) or CLT;
3) Have a minimum of 59 semester hours of academic credit
(exclusive of physical education, military science, dogmatic religion and
vocational courses) from an accredited institution of higher learning;
4) Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0
scale; and,
5) Complete specified minimum
prerequisite requirements.

Course Requirements and Procedures
COURSE
PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS: Admission to CLS Advanced Standing program, CLT or MLT(ASCP)
certification, currently practicing in a clinical laboratory as a clinical
laboratory technician.
1)
Review the handout materials and reading assignments
listed in the table below.
2)
The On-Line Examinations on the dates indicated.
3)
A comprehensive examination will be given at the
conclusion of the course covering the information presented in the on-line
course materials.
4)
Class meetings will be for the purpose of discussing
information presented in the on-line materials, and for presentations of guest
lecturers.
